Γεια σας. Μόλις ολοκληρώσαμε το αυτοχρηματοδοτούμενο mini cd "Far away".
Υπάρχουμε απο το 1999 με αρκετές μουσικές επιρροές καθώς τα ακούσματα ποικοίλουν στη μπάντα.

Προσωπικά πιστεύω πως η μοναδική Ελληνική μπάντα που συνδυάζει τον Black Metal ήχο με τα πολλά ατμοσφαιρικά και σκοτεινά / μελωδικά περάσματα είναι οι The Elysian Fields. Έτσι τουλάχιστον νόμιζα μέχρι να ακούσω αυτό το Mini EP το οποίο μας έρχεται από μια καταπληκτική μπάντα η οποία ονομάζεται Sacram. Η μπάντα αυτή υπάρχει από το 1999, όταν είχε κυκλοφορήσει το πρώτο της Demo με τίτλο Desert Sea. 8 ολόκληρα χρόνια μετά, επιστρέφει με ένα εξαιρετικό EP το οποίο ονομάζεται Far Away και σίγουρα δεν μπορεί να περάσει απαρατήρητο από κανέναν οπαδό του Ατμοσφαιρικού / Black ήχου. Με μια πρώτη ακρόαση, είναι φανερό πως η μπάντα εκτός από το ότι ξέρει να γράφει μουσική, είναι και μουσικοί με ταλέντο, αφού δεν είναι λίγα και τα Progressive περάσματα. Όταν λέμε Progressive όμως, δεν εννοούμε τις κλασικές καταστάσεις με τα ατελείωτα solos κτλ. Τα πάντα ακούγονται με μέτρο και παρά το γεγονός πως τα κομμάτια είναι σχετικά μεγάλα (το ομώνυμο διαρκεί 8 λεπτά περίπου) δεν κουράζουν αλλά ακριβώς το αντίθετο. Οι μελωδίες είναι το δυνατό σημείο της μπάντας, οι οποίες σε πολλά σημεία ηχούν αρκετά "πένθιμες" σαν αυτές των My Dying Bride αλλά για να είμαι ειλικρινής, η μπάντα που μοιάζει περισσότερο στον ήχο τους είναι οι Elysian Fields. Από εκεί και πέρα, κάποια ακραία τυπικά Black Metal ξεσπάσματα δίνουν τη δική τους ατμόσφαιρα στο όλο αποτέλεσμα, ενώ υπάρχουν και μερικά σημεία που οι ηλεκτρικές / ρυθμικές κιθάρες σταματούν και τη θέση τους παίρνουν οι ηλεκτροακουστικές οι οποίες όποτε αυτές υπάρχουν, δημιουργούν μια ανατολίτικη ατμόσφαιρα θυμίζοντας τους Orphaned Land. Τα φωνητικά είναι αποκλειστικά brutal και περισσότερο προς τα μονοπάτια του Black Metal και φυσικά έχουν δέσει απόλυτα ενώ είναι ακριβώς έτσι όπως θα έπρεπε να είναι σε τέτοιες καταστάσεις. Η παραγωγή είναι αξιόλογη, κάτι που δίνει ακόμα περισσότερους πόντους σε μια καταπληκτική δουλειά. Για να συνοψίσουμε λοιπόν, το Far Away είναι ένα τρομερό EP το οποίο περιέχει μόλις 4 κομμάτια τα οποία βέβαια είναι αρκετά για να βγάλουμε τα συμπεράσματά μας. Η ατμόσφαιρα η μελωδία και το ακραίο συνδυάζονται με μοναδικό τρόπο δημιουργώντας μια θάλασσα συναισθημάτων τα οποία μας απορροφούν και μας κερδίζουν από την πρώτη ακρόαση. Έτσι τουλάχιστον ένιωσα εγώ. Τα συμπεράσματα είναι δικά σας...

SACRAM: another new band from Athens, Greece. Well, not that new since they are active from 1999, but this self-financed EP is their second release.
As I wrote earlier, John Karkoulias and Paschalis Christofilos gave birth to the band in 1999. During the same year, their first demo "Desert Sea" was out. Despite the bad production, the critics of that demo ware encouraging. Unfortunately for the band, the next years ware not that good. From 2000 since 2007, they had numerous problems with the band members.
This EP contains four songs and they play death metal with a touch of progressive and thrash. SACRAM are somewhere between AT THE GATES, DARK TRANQUILITY and old ANATHEMA and some of their riffs are looking towards . Nice ideas are in here, plus the guys seem to give 100% of their will in "Far Away". The work they did, as far as the eight-page booklet concerns, is a good example for other new bands to see what they can achieve. SACRAM has all the potential to do the next step, and I hope that they won’t disappear, something that happens with lots of bands that aren’t from countries like Germany or the U.K.
For a self-finaced EP the band is doing a great work and they are worth the support. They have room for improvement, especially in the instrumentation and the production. But they have the time to do that.

" Athens, Greece based Sacram are another addition to the rapidly expanding progressive death metal scene. With influences ranging from Cynic, (later) Pestilence and Death this Greek outfit compensates what is missing in originality in execution and overall delivery. There's a distinctive Swedish slant to the riffs and melodies, while vocally Sacram tend to lean towards the black metal side of the equation. The music is mostly mid-paced which allows the tracks to have an open structure, accentuating the magnificent skills of the guitarists. This is particularly beneficial to the many leads/solos that grace this little EP. Generally, Sacram can be compared to the likes of Control Denied, Communic and to a lesser degree Nevermore. Each of these 4 songs sees Sacram confidently in their direction and while the pace isn't particularly high - the material is strong enough to hold up despite that. All tracks are carefully structured and upon repeated listens new layers and details are bound to be uncovered. Where many bands today go for immediate gratification Sacram obliges the listener to sit down, absorb their material and let it all sink in. The production of this EP is actually surprisingly high standard with a bass-heavy foundation that forms the backbone to the material. The guitar tone is gritty and clear, but misses the bite and punch to truly grab the listener while the drums and bass sound exactly like they should. Artwork, design and lay-out are superb with fitting moody artwork which reminds of (later) Anathema. Not the most original thing on the market today, but Sacram deliver an admirable debut that might lead to bigger things if they are able to take their sound one step further. "

" Σοκ και δέος! Δεν ξέρω τι και πως, αλλά όποτε έχει φτάσει φέτος ελληνική κυκλοφορία στα χέρια μου προκύπτει το λιγότερο πολύ καλή και οι Sacram δεν ανήκουν στην κατηγορία αυτή διότι είναι υπερβολικά καλοί! Πέρασαν 8 χρόνια από την πρώτη τους demo κυκλοφορία με τίτλο "Desert Sea" και η πρώτη «επίσημη» εμφάνισή τους στα δισκογραφικά δρώμενα με το αυτοχρηματοδοτούμενο "Far Away" με πήρε και με σήκωσε, με έστειλε μακριά, πολύ μακριά...
Η μελαγχολική επιθετικότητα του τραγουδιστή τους, το «γλυκό» αυτό καφριλίκι, ο αγαπημένος «βόθρος» αν προτιμάτε, είναι από τα δυνατότερα χαρτιά της μπάντας, ο οποίος όμως δε θα στεκόταν μόνος του, αν και τα υπόλοιπα μέλη δεν του έδιναν την ώθηση με το παίξιμό τους, με το μελωδικό, τεχνικό death που κάποιες φορές φτάνει και στα δυσδιάκριτα όρια του black ελέω "Non Serviam" εποχής! Το ομότιτλο τραγούδι είναι μία από τις καλύτερες φετινές συνθέσεις και τα επικά του ακουστικά μέρη είναι οι προάγγελοι της ανατριχίλας, όμοια μ' εκείνη που συνοδεύει τις ακροάσεις Bathory, Primordial, Moonsorrow και λοιπής συνομοταξίας. Η εισαγωγή του, δε, σε «anathemaτίζει» όσο ακριβώς χρειάζεται, ένα λεπτό που δίνει τη σειρά του σε refrain Made in Sakis (Tolis).
Στο σύνολό του όμως το "Far Away" πρόσκειται σε πιο death φόρμες, με τα "Family" και "Everything Splinters" να είναι καθαρά της σχολής του αείμνηστου Chuck Schuldiner, με στίχους που πονάνε, υποδεικνύοντας ταυτόχρονα τους πραγματικούς ενόχους: "...Father, Mother, where were you... when I was falling all alone?". Παρ' όλη την απαισιοδοξία του "Everything Splinters", είναι ο τέλειος septicός επίλογος σε μια άριστη δουλειά, και από πλευράς artwork, η οποία με στενοχώρησε μόνο και μόνο για την έλλειψη περισσότερων συνθέσεων, αλλά mini cd είναι αυτό, που θα πάει, θα βγει και το full length, έτσι δεν είναι παίδες;
Μέχρι τότε όμως κάντε έναν ελάχιστο κόπο και πληκτρολογήστε www.myspace.com/sacrammusic πρώτα για να ακούσετε κι εσείς τη μουσική πρόταση ενός εκ των πλέον ελπιδοφόρων ελληνικών συγκροτημάτων και δευτερευόντως να την αποκτήσετε αν κι εφόσον οι κύριοι Πασχάλης - Γιάννης - Σίμος - Μιχάλης και Ντίνος καταφέρουν να σας πείσουν, κάτι που μόνο δύσκολο δεν είναι. Τα σέβη μου...

Ενω η μουσική μου άρεσε πολύ, ωραία θέματα, καλή παραγωγή ιδίως για κάτι που κάνατε μόνοι σας και συγχαρητήρια γι αυτό, με χαλάει η φωνή. Φυσικά έχει να κάνει με το ότι δεν είναι το είδος που ακούω, αλλά πιστεύω ότι με κανονικό τραγούδι θα είχατε πολύ περισσότερη απήχηση (το οποίο είναι φυσικά δικό σας θέμα να το δείτε).
Αυτά τα ολίγα.
Αντικαταβολή στέλνετε; Αν μή τι άλλο πρέπει εμείς οι ίδιοι να ενισχύουμε τέτοιες προσπάθειες, ιδίως αν πιστεύουμε ότι έχουνε και κάτι να προσφέρουν (κι ας μη μ' αρέσει η φωνή 8))

ΠΡεπει να πω οτι πραγματικα τα πραγματα δίχνουν πολυ αισιόδοξα και τελικά ο κόπος και το χρέωμα που φάγαμε για το αυτοχρηματοδοτουμενο αυτο cd...αρχίζουν να μας ανταμοίβουν ΨΥΧΟΛΟΓΙΚΑ οπου ειναι και το σημαντικότερο :)

Sacram - 'Far Away' It is not a rare statement to say your main influences have been At the Gates, Anathema, Pink Floyd, Dark Tranquility and Death. It becomes rare when a band actually manages to stir all those influences in just four songs. I miss a few, though. If you would have told me that Danny Cavanagh and Dave Murray worked along with these guys, I would have believed you, without a single doubt. The sound, not necessarily the production, takes you back to Anathema's golden years and at times it is so fluent and balanced, that it reminds me of Iron Maiden's 'Somewhere In Time'. Maybe not consistently, but then again, who ever is?
The first track 'Despair' is an up-tempo song. Probably to prove that they can do that too. But the Silent Enigmatic intro, including fretless bass slides, is a shame to lay aside with metallic standards. Not that it's bad, but the sphere is taken away too rapidly. At least in my opinion. But the Other three songs, of which 'Everything Splinters' is my favorite by far, are a very neat display of timeless and well balanced progressive death metal, the way the early doom bands did it. Slightly more pace every now and then. Pleasantly more. The vocals is where the At the Gates influences come in. A bit standard in timing, but passionate enough to grant forgiveness.
"The Depths of Athens", well, well, well. I visualize way too quickly for descriptions like that. If there's one thing the Greek are known for, then it is something you don't want to associate the word "depth" with as a metal band. Not that I really care, but it is something worth weighing, when you write things down in official publications. Anyhow, Athens Greece is where this band is from. It is safe to say that after Rotting Christ, we have another potential breakthrough name from Greece. They might even get further than their fellow countrymen. The melodramatic and enchanting guitar lines, are of a very high level. And not just raged through a five and dime pedal. The sound is as said before brilliant. A true raw gothic feeling without obligatory female vocals or even keyboards. Absolutely brilliant. Especially considering the fact that 'Far Away' is self-financed. It fits the identity of Sacram just right. Guitar player John, who founded this band, can be considered as visionary writer. He makes no secret out of the fact that all the songs are rehearsed over and over again, so that Sacram could bring out a live experience to be proud of. I never saw them live, yet I can say that Greece has something to be proud of. Bring on the full-length album

φίλε Gear καταλαβαίνω ακριβώς τι εννοείς για την φωνή και μπορώ να σου πώ οτι συμφωνω σχετικά μαζι σου.
Πιστευω πως κάθε τι..κάνει τον κύκλο του και κάποια στιγμή βρίσκει 100% τον εαυτό του. ;)

Μόλις πήρα το CD, για τη μουσική έχω ήδη κάνει τα σχόλια μου, απλά θέλω να επισημάνω ότι μου άρεσε και η ποιότητα της γενικής δουλειάς. Το μόνο που δε μου άρεσε αλλά είναι τελείως υποκειμενικό είναι κάποιες γραματοσειρές που δε φαίνονται πολύ καλά και είμαστε και μεγάλοι άνθρωποι όπως και να χεί :p

Ευχαριστώ για τα ενθαρυντικά σου λόγια
Οντως προσπαθησαμε να κανουμε οτι καλυτερο σε όλους τους τομείς και χαίρομαι που βλέπω οτι τελικά πλησιάσαμε αυτό που θέλαμε. Να σου πω επίσης οτι όλο το artwork και το ένθετο δεν είναι δουλειά κάποιου γραφίστα αλλά προσωπικό μεράκι του Σίμου (κιθάρα) αλλά και της υπόλοιπης μπάντας.
Σχετικά με τις γραμματοσειρές..δικιο έχεις!!! Θέλει λίγη προσπαθεια για να διαβαστούν!! ;D :D :D :D

Πανεμορφοι μπορώ να πω! Αν και θα ήθελα λίγο πιο ζεστή τη φωνή, νομίζω καταλαβες πως το λέω. Αλλά Είναι όντως κάτι το διαφορετικό! Μπράβο! Τέτοιες προσπάθειες πρέπει να φαίνονται και να ανταμείβονται! Αν επιτρέπεται τι κούρδισμα χρησιμοποιείτε?

Στο "Far away" ηχογραφήσαμε με default κούρδισμα "Ε".
Τώρα έχουμε ρίξει τόνο, σε Ρε . ;D ;D
το όλο θέμα σε συνδιασμό με ,επιτέλους, αγορά εξοπλισμού, πάει προς το κατά πολύ καλυτερο. :)

This is the first release of the band and it is exactly as it has to be: fresh strong and powerful! SACRAM play melodic Death Metal with many influences from the Scandinavian scene with means aggression along with melody in a very nice combination. The whole work is in very high standards with great musicianship and compositions and all these with a very good and clear production which shows that when a band knows what it really wants it can achieve it even if it makes all this work by itself. Although this is their first work, it offered in regular CD and not just a writable copy as the most demos of new coming bands, something that shows from the very first approach that here we are talking about some guys who are talking very seriously what they are doing.
If you are a fan of this kind of music don’t forget this band. It is sure that in the future they will be able to offer us remarkable works. Sure they deserve your attention and respect. A new giant is born!!!

Εκπληκτική μπάντα οι Αθηναίοι Sacram. Δύναμη. Σε πιάνουν απ τον σβέρκο ευθύς εξ' αρχής και σε ωθούν στην αναθεώρηση περί κορεσμού του σουηδικού ήχου. Οι συνθέσεις φαίνονται δουλεμένες ακριβώς επειδή είναι απλές και catchy. Είμαι σχεδόν βέβαιος ότι μετά από πολύ καιρό και αρκετό κόψε-ράψε κατέληξαν στα κατάλληλα σημεία, σε αυτά δηλαδή που θα ορίσουν τις συνθέσεις ως ενιαίο, ορμητικό και ξεχωριστό σύνολο.
Θα ήθελα να χαθούν και να επιμεριστούν σε λεπτομέρειες τα αρνητικά σχόλια που θα κάνω, αλλά δεν γίνεται αλλιώς (γι' αυτό τοποθετούνται και σε αυτή την παράγραφο). Ίσως για την έκταση ενός πλήρους δισκογραφήματος, που σύντομα τους ευχόμαστε να πραγματοποιήσουν, να είναι χρήσιμες αυτές οι παρατηρήσεις. Ο τραγουδιστής της μπάντας, ενώ διαθέτει τη μονόχνοτη καφρίλα που οφείλει να έχει, μετά από πολλές ακροάσεις ακούγεται μονοδιάστατος και προβλέψιμος. Η παραγωγή –επίσης μετά από πολλές ακροάσεις- σού αφήνει το βουητό του μπασαρισμένου ήχου, αλλά είναι πολύ καλή και αντιπροσωπευτική, ας μην υπερβάλλουμε. Τέλος, θα ήθελα να αναφέρω ότι στηρίζονται, σε δύο απ’ τα τέσσερα κομμάτια ("Despair", "Family"), σε -ναι μεν υπέροχα- αλλά παρόμοια hit-riffs (το εισαγωγικό του "Despair" είναι παρεμφερές του θέματος μετά την παύση στο "Family").
Οι επιρροές είναι ξεκάθαρες. Death, Dark Tranquility, At The Gates και οι παλιοί καλοί Amorphis. Τα κομμάτια είναι πραγματικά χιτάκια. Περιέχουν ισορροπημένες δόσεις λυρισμού, τεχνικής, μελαγχολίας, επιθετικότητας και μελωδιών (που κοιτούν εντόνως και υπούλως, ανατολικά). Τα κομμάτια πολύ σωστά τοποθετημένα στη διαδοχή τους. Ξεκινάει το "Despair" και, ενώ κοπανιόμαστε υπέροχα, σκάει η παύση... αυτά είναι... κοπανιόμαστε πλέον πιο υπέροχα πάνω στην άρση και βάζουμε στο repeat το εν λόγω σημείο. Όσο διατρέχουμε τα κομμάτια, ποικιλία riffs, μελωδιών και η κραυγή που ουρλιάζει "Family", μας προετοιμάζει για τη μελαγχολία και την υπεροχή του "Everything Splinters".
Οι στίχοι ακριβώς επειδή δεν είναι στίχοι αλλά σκέψεις, αποδίδονται αλλοι στον τραγουδιστή κι άλλοι στον κιθαρίστα ως "thoughts". Όποιος θεωρήσει κάτι τέτοιο υπερβολικό και δήθεν, είναι πέρα ως πέρα λάθος (όπως λέμε "ντιπ για ντιπ"), μιας και επιτέλους πρέπει να γίνει το αντίθετο. Δηλαδή να πάψουν οι περισσότεροι να θεωρούν εαυτόν στιχουργό και ποιητή. Εύγε.
Το περιτύλιγμα έχει ακριβώς τον ίδιο ήχο με τα χρώματα της μουσικής. Τέσσερα υπέροχα κομμάτια περιέχονται στην αυτοχρηματοδοτούμενη αυτήν κυκλοφορία. Θα αναζητήσω να τους δω ζωντανά και θα περιμένω την ολοκληρωμένη δουλειά τους ελπίζοντας να διατηρήσουν την επιλεκτικότητά, άρα και την υπομονή τους, στη σύνθεση. Ωραίοι.

το μονο που ,χωρις παρεξηγηση δλδ,ισως να με ξενιζει στα κομματια σας ειναι το λιγο παραπανω wah που χωνεις,ισως θα προτιμουσα λιγο πιο επιθετικη κιθαρα σε καποια σημεια να πω την αληθεια, αλλα μικρολεπτομερειες τωρα...
και απ οτι ειδα πρεπει να φερατε λαο με πουλμαν ε?χαχαχαχα μακελειο.

"Sacram is a single name indicating a Greek formation come straight of Athens already present on the hexagonal scene since 1999 and having with its credit a left demonstration 9 years ago. Following several problems of line-up that the group knew, the group missed since the year 2000. But here they are of return, a return with Mini CD (or a EP) 4 titles, a opus entitled Far Away which is a true pleasure and a pure flood in a musical sphere where perfection makes main and god of this realization which took all the time that it is necessary at the same time to take us along in a supreme world of Death Metal progressive and melody. By holding their CD between my hands, the cover enormously especially marked me while moving away from the covers that one sees at our days in the vats, far from the mythical creatures and the misty forests of Black Metal Scandinavian, far from the corpses and the creatures gores of Death Metal American, these Greeks decide to present to us a simplistic and beautiful art-work at the same time with sunbeams which reflect on the surface of a calm sea, these reflections spout out beyond especially that the sun hides behind the clouds, that rhyme well with the name of their realization Far Away... Now let us pass to their music... from the very start an excellent impression settled thanks to their art-work, but is what them music is with the height of Death Metal Progressive as they are defined? Let' S go to discover! Despair opens the ball, a name which one often sees in the achievements Doom and/or Gothic; it starts with an acoustic part calms, a intro well done, cut well with the spirit of their music especially with the arrival of low and its sound fretless and the battery what gives an exceptional charm before passing to the serious things, then is with the turn of a riff purely Death Mélodique to settle, the pleasure of Dark Tranquillity or even At The Gates especially as regards the song which comes to enjoy the whole especially... an exceptional atmosphere of a remarkable originality with a riff in veins of Death Metal Atmosphérique... Far Away, the longest title of the opus and my preferred, a intro which points out "The Elysian Fields to me" even if this title starts with a tempo a little low than that which precedes it, a simple play of guitar, Death Mélodique what... a play battery wrapped well with the rate/rhythm and low exceptional I too much will not speak about the singer because it impressed me with his song; some is the perfect control or the stability of its voice that gives me desire for seeing it singing into live. After this riff the group put a little pepper in its music while raising the tempo then by integrating an acoustic part which quickly yields its place made for a solo which... that to say? the words escape to me so much I adored it and who even carried my heart in another world... the sequence of riffs returns the music of this group more progressive than melody, a riff after the other, of a mid-tempo to an aggressive part with another acoustics then a solo... what a is delirious! What a pleasure! Especially with counter time towards the end of the title leaving the singer ahead with a a little suffering song, another solo comes us gratifier to enclose long a 7 minute old title 46, and that one has the impression that it lasted only one minute... Family, a title familiar especially for the fans of Scandinavian Death Metal with a progressive spirit, a singer always faithful to the control of its voice, and a play of low which I see that it represents the backbone of their music. As envisaged, there was right to an acoustic part which recalls me, even if if by far, Orphaned Land, a solo follows this acoustic part with low which holds this time the rhythmic one with the place of the guitar, with a too high tempo... what a finish waw! Finally and unfortunately the last title of this mini CD, an intense pleasure. Everything Splinters, a title in a doomesque spirit, a slowness of Doom Death in veins of the Anathema old men, a solo carved well with the rhythmic one and the battery... about the two last minutes the music becomes a little too melody compared to the beginnings of the title, which attracted to me is the play of battery enjoyed of some counter time, there Dark Traqnuillity come me to mind but certainly several other influences of the group escape to me with force that I concentrated on the listening of this opus by forgetting any other album... All these lines of my chronicle are insufficient to describe at which point I fell under the charm from Cd mini CD (and I repeat it) maximum pleasure, a EP which escapes from the rule from the achievements that one listens to nowadays and who give us desire for stacking on CD by turn in round, because of the lack of the means; this realization is produced car, thing which returned to me insane while listening to the music, because with several obstacles the group delivers one of the best achievements to us than Metal Waves received since its existence, I will not stop following this group which enormously evolved/moved compared to its first demonstration... Simplicity makes the beauty of Sacram, this group, which will not be long in making speak about him in the whole world, right remainder to be waited what they will reveal us in the future!"

Θα ηθελα να σας ενημερωσω πως οι Sacram αποφασίσανε την λήξη της πορείας τους.
Μετα από αρκετό καιρο, συζητησεις αλλα κυριως μετα απο αλλαγή στο μουσικο μας ύφος, αποφασίσαμε να τερματισουμε την μπάντα με την παρούσα, ως τωρα, μορφή της.
